Domiciliary Care Medication (Intermediate) This is an interactive course covering further aspects of administration and handling of medicines in domiciliary care following the Skills for Care knowledge sets for medication. Length: 3 Hours

Medication Awareness Course for Personal Assistants This course is an interactive medication awareness course to help PAs support their employer with their medicines. Length: 90 Minutes


Extra Care Housing and Supported Living Medication (Intermediate) Further aspects of medication administration and handling for staff who have completed the foundation course. Length: 3 Hours


Managing Medicines for Service Users with Dementia An interactive half-day course with activities and case studies to include: types, causes and symptoms of dementia, anti-dementia drugs - their side effects and how they work, the pitfalls of anti-psychotics in dementia, non-drug strategies, aspects of the Mental Capacity Act and considerations for covert administration of medicines. Length: 3 Hours


Buccal Midazolam Administration The course is a 2 hour session covering: What epilepsy and seizures are, What the symptoms are, How epilepsy is treated, When buccal midazolam should be used, How to administer buccal midazolam and Your responsibilities when administering buccal midazolam. Length: 2 Hours


Adrenaline Auto-Injector Administration (Epipen®/Jext®/Emerade®) The course is a 2 hour session covering: What anaphylaxis is and what causes it, What the symptoms are, What the emergency treatment for anaphylaxis is, How to use different types of injectors and Procedures needed in the care/school setting. Length: 2 Hours


Diabetes in Adults This is an interactive workshop to understand diabetes symptoms and management. The course looks at managing hypo’s and hyper’s and understanding the medicines used in diabetes care. Length: 2 Hours

Assessors Workshop for Medication Handling This workshop is designed for managers, senior staff and those involved in assessing the competencies of care staff in medication handling in all care environments including care homes, domiciliary care organisations, day services, extra care housing schemes and supported living. Domiciliary Medication Management and Audit This course explains the management and audit of medication and how to reduce errors. It is designed for all staff and team leaders with responsibility for medication management. Length: 3 Hours

Medication in Learning Disability Services This is an interactive course focussing on commonly prescribed medicines in Learning Disability services including the use of Buccal Midazolam. The course enables staff to provide help and support to services users with medicines. Length: 3 Hours


Children's Services Care and Control of Medicines This is an interactive awareness course covering all aspects of administration and handling of medicines in children’s services. It follows the Skills for Care knowledge sets for medication and is fully compliant with the requirements of Ofsted. Length: 3 Hours


District / Community Nurses Medication Course For district / community nurses covering additional aspects of medicines administration and handling with a particular focus on the community setting. Length: 3 Hours


Foster Carers and Shared Lives Safe Handling of Medicines An awareness course for those responsible for medication handling in foster care. NB This course is also available for shared lives. Length: 3 Hours


Medical Conditions Awareness (1) To increase basic awareness of medical conditions to enable staff to effectively support service users with their condition. This course covers Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Awareness of other medicial conditions can be covered on request. Length: 3 Hours


Medical Conditions Awareness (2) To increase basic awareness of medical conditions to enable staff to effectively support service users with their condition. This course covers Arthritis and Stroke. Awareness of other medical conditions can be covered on request. Length: 3 Hours


Mental Health Medication This half day interactive workshop involving case studies will improve and extend your knowledge of mental health medication and keep your staff up to date on latest developments. Length: 3 Hours


Advanced Medication Course This course is suitable for nurses and senior care staff. It increases and extends knowledge of the side effects and interactions of medicines. Length: 3 Hours


Opiates in Practice Course Examines how potential opiate medication errors can be reduced to secure better patient safety and how best practice can be applied to their administration. Length: 3 Hours


Care and Control of Medicines for Prisons (Foundation) This is an interactive course covering key aspects of administration and handling of medicines within a prison setting. Length: 3 Hours


Social Workers Course Designed for social workers who assess the level of support that service users require with their medicines. Length: 3 Hours


Opus Elearning is delivered online and enables individual staff members to study at their own pace. Elearning is a cost-effective alternative to tutor-based training – minimum attendee numbers don’t apply and there are no travel or accommodation costs to budget for.

Individual licences are valid for 1 year from date of activation (not from date of purchase).

Our self study distance learning workbooks are ideal for individuals who prefer this method of learning. 

The foundation courses consist of 2 workbooks which closely follow the content of our accredited foundation courses. Foundation workbooks contain quizzes, word searches, case studies and other interactive learning activities. Understanding is tested throughout by self-assessment. Final assessment is returned to Opus Pharmacy Services for marking and feedback.
